Travel has always been a passion of mine, so I’m sure it may come as a surprise when I tell you that I’ve only been traveling since 2016. My first flight was in January of 2016. My parents couldn’t afford family vacations. My schools didn’t take us on any of out of state or international trips. I hadn’t made any plans to travel. So for someone who loved travel, I sure was doing it wrong!
Then one day my cousin, who is a flight attendant, offered to fly me to Orlando for a weekend trip and that was my first time saying yes.
The truth is before that day I was afraid. Afraid of being 30,000 feet in the air. Afraid of leaving the comfort of my home state. But mostly I was afraid of saying yes and finally making a change in my life. That first yes did more than open my eyes to the joy of travel, it changed my entire worldview.
Saying yes to that spontaneous weekend trip awakened a sense of adventure in me. Not only did I love flying and exploring new cities, but I was good at it! I wasn’t afraid of flying alone or exploring by myself, I actually welcomed the moments when I could take it all in without the distraction of friends or family around.
After that trip I realized that the only thing that had been holding me back was myself. Not money, or work, or family. Just me. Between 2016 and 2018 I’ve visited 6 countries, 10 states with the US, and Hundreds of unique cities across those countries, all because I chose to say yes to new experiences.
Since then I haven’t just said yes to travel, but also to being the best version of myself. I’ve said yes to healthier relationships, a better diet, a job that makes me happy. Through this website I hope to show you the ways in which my life has changed, and give you helpful tips on how to make this year the year that you start saying yes.
